Thinking of You (Oslo)

Thinking of You will be presented outside the Nobel Peace Center and along Torggata in Oslo from 19-28 June 2026.

The official launch event will be held outside the Noble Peace Center at 11:30am on 19 June 2026 to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, and is open to the public.

Originally created in response to the silence and stigma faced by survivors of conflict‑related sexual violence, Thinking of You is a participatory work that transforms a familiar domestic scene—clothing hung on washing lines—into a powerful collective act of remembrance and solidarity. Hundreds of dresses and garments, donated by survivors and those who stand with them, will fill the public space surrounding the Nobel Peace Centre and along the Torggata, inviting reflection, dialogue, and action.

Following earlier installations in New York, Strasbourg, The Hague and Prishtina, the Oslo installation marks a significant moment in the project’s global journey. Hosted in one of the world’s most symbolic spaces for peace, justice, and international dialogue, Thinking of You calls on decision‑makers and the public alike to confront the ongoing reality of sexual violence in conflict and to reaffirm their commitment to justice and accountability.

“The installation gives visibility to experiences that are too often hidden or ignored,” said Alketa. “By bringing Thinking of You to Oslo, and to the doorstep of the Nobel Peace Center, we are creating a space where empathy, memory, and responsibility meet.”

The installation will be accessible to the public from 19-28 June 2026 and will be accompanied by moments of reflection and engagement aimed at amplifying the voices of survivors and survivor‑led movements.

Thinking of You continues to stand as both a tribute and a call to action—transforming public space into a shared act of solidarity and hope.

The project is supported by the Norwegian Women’s Lobby, Mental Health and Human Rights Info, the Embassy of Kosovo in Norway, the British Embassy in Norway and the Nobel Peace Center.
